It's Paige and Thorben's first anniversary, and in honor of it, we wanted to share their New Orleans wedding film with you! Paige and Thorben met in Austin, Texas and moved to San Francisco when Thorben, a German citizen who moved to the United States for college, accepted a job in the tech industry. When they were thinking about places to get married, they considered destinations all over America, but they decided on New Orleans because of Paige's south Mississippi roots and love for New Orleans. The two were married at the Marigny Opera House, an almost 200 year old church which had been converted into a performing arts center in the Marigny neighborhood of downtown New Orleans, adjacent to the French Quarter. After a lot of Creole and German inspired food, the reception came to an end with a bang: a traditional New Orleans second line, in which a New Orleans jazz band led a parade of the wedding party and guests through the streets of downtown.
I know I'm a little late on this, but I just wanted to wish y'all a happy new year and share a short reel of some of our favorite 2015 weddings! Last year we filmed so many amazing places, including Miami, New Orleans, Savannah, Austin, Sarasota, Chicago, and Houston, and 2016 is shaping up to be just as interesting! This past spring we were able to participate in a beautiful styled shoot in New Orleans at what I consider to be the most fantastic venue in NOLA, Race and Religious. The shoot was designed by my wife, Alee, and her business partner, Saron, (Mitchell Willis Events) for the wedding inspiration blog The Bridal Theory. There were so many people that contributed to making this shoot a success: Lauren Kinsey, the photographer; the hair and makeup artist, Faces of Virtue; the florist, Bee's Weddings; the dress designer, Samuelle Couture; the stationer, Paper Birch Designs; the calligrapher, Signora e Mare; and the rental companies, Ardor Event Rentals and Perrier Party Rentals. The gorgeous models are Jasmine Kudji and Cliff Van Meter, and you can see photos of the shoot here.
Kristina and Lee's Chicago wedding was one of the most fun weddings we filmed this year. Lee is British and met Kristina when they were in high school and her family served as hosts for British students who had traveled to the US to play soccer. It's pretty rare that we get to film weddings for couples who are as in love as Kristina and Lee. Their family and friends are so supportive of their relationship, and it makes us so happy to be able to share their happiness-filled wedding day. Full film coming soon! Enjoy!
Cristy and Eric's wedding was one of the most fun weddings we have filmed this year. They are both from Miami, but they met at school in New Orleans, so their reception was full of New Orleans details, including a second line band! On a side note, can I say how awesome Miami is?! We LOVED it. If it weren't for the horrible traffic, we'd move there tomorrow.
Anyway, here is their wedding film!
First, I should apologize for the fact that it has been a million months since I have posted anything on the blog. Life has been insane, but I really am going to try to blog more!
Secondly, I have a fantastic wedding to share today. We met Mark and Ally a couple years ago when they were the photographers of the wedding we filmed in Bermuda. They are both Bermudian citizens and live there full time. At the time we met them, they were seriously dating, and it was only a matter of time before Mark popped the question. They decided to get married in Savannah, GA, because Ally had gone to college there and had family from the area. When they asked us to film the wedding, we were ecstatic, because even though we only met them for a few hours, we knew that we really liked them. They are fun, kind people, and we couldn't be happier that they found each other. (Plus we got to use some Super 8, and we always love that!) Here is their film! Enjoy!
We filmed Ashley and Ivan's wedding last May at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch in Dardanelle, AR. Ashley and Ivan were so sweet and amazing to work with, and they were SO HAPPY. Honestly, they were one of the happiest, most in love couples that we've ever worked with. They met while salsa dancing in downtown Little Rock, which I thought was such an amazing story, particularly because the idea of going salsa dancing by myself is so terrifying that I think Ashley is such a brave woman! And her bravery clearly paid off! Ivan and his family are from Puerto Rico, and the whole day was a beautiful family affair, with everyone dancing the night away while the most amazing salsa band played. I wish every wedding we filmed was as fun as this one was. I hope you enjoy their film!
How can we even begin to sum up 2014? It has been ridiculous in the best possible way. We were able to stand beside 29 different couples as they said their vows and celebrated a lifelong commitment to each other, and on top of that we worked side by side with the best photographers, planners, designers, DJs, bands, caterers, and other wedding professionals in the business. We couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity to capture the memories of a couple’s wedding day. It’s important work that we absolutely love doing.
If 2015 is half as exciting as 2014 then we’re in for a fun ride. We already have weddings scheduled in Chicago, Charleston, Miami, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, and a handful of cities in between.
Here’s to love in 2015!
One service that we have started offering our couples is a shorter version of their short film, which we are calling a trailer. Initially, doing this seemed like extra work, but I can honestly say that it has been so inspiring and has helped us to see our films in a totally new light. When you're editing a film this short, you really have to decide what the most essential and beautiful shots are, and it makes you think about your work in a fresh, new way.
Miranda and Dillon were such a sweet, friendly couple (and clearly beautiful people!), and they made our jobs easier by being so easygoing and fun to be around. Their wedding day in Natchez, Mississippi, was a beautiful day filled with laughter and dancing and friends, and we couldn't have been happier to get to be a part of it.
Today we are sharing another one of our films from 2013. Donnally and J.R. were married last summer at Donnally's parents' lakehouse in Mena, Arkansas. It was a beautiful, rustic farm wedding, designed and planned by the ever talented Jessica Kersey from Finishing Touch Events in Northwest Arkansas. The ceremony was a simple and touching outdoor service under an arbor and in front of a lovely lake. The reception was tented, with antique china place settings and peaches galore! Donnally and J.R. are such a sweet couple, and their love for each other was so evident on their wedding day. I hope you enjoy their film!
Since we just launched our new site, we wanted to reshare some of our films from earlier this year, and we have a great one to share first!
Boy, was this wedding an amazing experience! We were recommended to Angie and Danny by a friend, and we jumped at the chance to film a beautiful destination wedding! Angie and Danny are an amazing couple from New York, and their friends and family traveled from all over the world to attend their wedding (literally! Angie's family is from Albania!) at the fabulous Fairmont Southampton Resort in gorgeous Bermuda. They were such a fantastic couple, and they bent over backwards to accomodate us and make us feel important to their big day, and we couldn't be more grateful. We had the most amazing experience climbing cliffs, walking on the pink sand beaches, and drinking famous Bermudian Rum Swizzles. We hope their wedding film fills you with the happiness and warmth of Bermuda!
Today is a special day for Katie and Kevin! It's their anniversary! One year ago, we filmed their heartfelt wedding, and it was one of the sweetest weddings I've ever been to. We get compliments on their film all the time, but all the credit goes to Katie and Kevin, because they were the sweetest, most expressive, happiest couple. In honor of their anniversary (and since we have a new website/blog and we haven't posted this video here yet) we present to you Katie and Kevin's wedding film. Happy anniversary, y'all!
We are excited to share Allison and Aaron's wedding film today! They were married in a traditional church ceremony, followed by a beautiful reception at the Country Club of Little Rock. They were such a sweet, happy couple, and Allison didn't stop smiling all day! I hope you enjoy the film!
